Social Steps

Terms of Service

Effective date: October 8, 2026

1. About Social Steps and these terms

Social Steps is a fitness app for tracking steps, connecting with friends, and comparing walking activity. These terms govern use of the Social Steps app, website, and related services (the “Service”). The Service is operated by José Jeria, an independent developer based in Germany.

By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If local law requires a parent or guardian’s permission, obtain that permission before using the Service.

2. Your account

Provide accurate account information and keep your account secure. Do not share your sign-in credentials or use another person’s account without permission. Contact me if you believe someone has accessed your account without authorization.

3. Fitness information and step tracking

The Service is for general fitness and motivation. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Choose activity goals appropriate for your circumstances and seek qualified medical advice when needed.

Step totals, rankings, and other activity information depend on devices, connected services, and synchronization. They may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. I do not guarantee particular fitness outcomes or uninterrupted, error-free tracking.

4. Connected devices and third-party services

You may choose to authorize supported health platforms or fitness trackers to share data with Social Steps. Only connect accounts you are entitled to use. Third-party services have their own terms and privacy policies and may require compatible hardware or a paid membership.

Integrations are available only where supported and may change or become unavailable if a provider changes its services or access rules. References to a provider do not imply that it sponsors or endorses Social Steps.

You can revoke access through the connected provider’s settings and, where available, through Social Steps. Revoking access stops future authorized access; handling of data already received is described in my Privacy Policy.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, third-party service providers, including connected fitness providers, disclaim all warranties relating to their services, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. They are not liable for consequential, special, punitive, or indirect damages arising from those services. These limitations do not exclude rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

5. Social features and your content

Social features let you share profile and activity information with people you connect with. Consider what you share and who you connect with. My Privacy Policy explains how I handle this information.

You retain your rights in content you provide, such as your profile name and picture. You give me permission to store, process, and display that content only as needed to provide the Service in accordance with your settings and my Privacy Policy. Only provide content you have the right to use.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to harass, impersonate, threaten, or infringe the rights of others. Do not upload unlawful content, distribute malware, access accounts or data without authorization, interfere with the Service, or deliberately manipulate activity data to mislead other users. Do not bypass access controls or extract other users’ data without authorization. These restrictions do not limit rights that applicable law expressly protects.

7. My software and intellectual property

My licensors and I retain rights in the Service’s software, design, and branding. You may use the Service for your personal use in accordance with these terms and any applicable app-store license. These terms do not transfer ownership of the Service to you.

For an app downloaded from Apple’s App Store, the applicable app license also applies, including Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement where no custom license has been provided. These service terms do not replace that license.

8. Optional purchases

Social Steps offers optional “Buy Me a Coffee” in-app purchases to support its development. These purchases are voluntary and are not required to use the app’s existing free features. They do not purchase a physical coffee or a subscription.

The price is shown before you confirm a purchase. Apple processes purchases through the App Store, subject to its applicable payment terms. I do not receive your payment card details.

You can request a refund through Apple’s refund service. Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances and applicable law. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory cancellation, refund, or other consumer rights.

9. Privacy and account deletion

My Privacy Policy explains the personal information I collect, how I use it, and your choices. You can stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion through the app’s privacy settings. Data retention and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes, suspension, and discontinuation

I may update the Service or change its features. Where reasonably possible, I will give advance notice of changes that materially affect your use. I may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, protect users or the Service, or comply with law. Where appropriate, I will explain the reason and provide a way to contact me to resolve the issue. I may act immediately where safety, security, or law requires it.

11. Responsibility and your legal rights

I will use reasonable care and skill in providing the Service. To the extent permitted by applicable law, I am not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside my reasonable control or by your misuse of the Service.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable. Your mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

12. Updates to these terms

I may revise these terms to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. I will publish the revised terms with an updated effective date and notify you of material changes before they take effect where required. Where your consent is required, I will ask for it. If you do not agree to revised terms, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.

13. Contact and disputes

For questions, complaints, or account issues, contact socialstepsapp@gmail.com. Please contact me first so I can try to resolve your concern.

Nothing in these terms removes protections you have under mandatory local law or prevents you from bringing a claim before a court or authority available to you under applicable law.
